Sr. Principal Scientist (Sr. Research Scientist)

ICON seeks a Senior Research Scientist in Lenexa, Kansas to design and execute complex clinical research studies, with expertise in ligand binding assays and bioanalytical methods. The role involves method development, scientific consultation, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance in a clinical research organization.

Responsibilities

Design and independently execute ligand binding assay method development experiments and protocols
Mentor junior scientists and advise operations teams on assay methodology and troubleshooting
Provide scientific input to management and business development on technology investments and assay requirements
Lead data review, validation support, and quality assurance for bioanalytical projects
Develop rugged, cost-effective assays and communicate project status with internal teams and external clients

Requirements

PhD in relevant scientific field with 2+ years CRO experience, or MS/BS with 10+ years laboratory experience
Advanced experience in ligand binding assays (ELISA, ECLIA) and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies
Proficiency with bioanalytical software (SoftMax Pro, Watson) and analytical instrumentation
Strong publication record and experience presenting in regulated research fields
Expertise in GLP compliance, method validation, and SOP development
Excellent cross-functional communication and scientific leadership capabilities
