RADIOLOGY AIDE

Position Summary The Imaging Aide works under the direction of leadership in imaging services and provides support to radiologic technologists and other imaging colleagues. An Imaging Aide will assist with patient preparation, equipment setup, maintaining an organized environment, and other clerical tasks. This individual must provide patients with focused compassionate care to ensure the patients’ needs are met. The imaging aide must communicate with patients and colleagues professionally and efficiently while providing high quality service. Legal Entity Aultman Hospital Department Summary The department provides imaging services within the health care facility to patients in need. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous healthcare experience preferred. Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required. Skills Technical and Clinical support skills. Basic understanding of radiology and imaging modalities. Ability to assist with patient preparation under technologist supervision. Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols. Compassionate communication. Assist patients with mobility and transfers. HIPAA and compliance knowledge. Responsibilities & Expectations Provide the Imaging Service’s technologists with support and assistance. Obtain patient history prior to exam. Verify consents and patient lab work. Keep rooms stocked and clean. Ensure that all orders have been received and are accurate for the next business day. Answer department telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner; direct calls to the appropriate personnel. Schedule same‑day “add‑on” outpatients. Schedule inpatients and arrange for patient transport. Complete tasks and requests made by the Radiologists. Perform clerical duties. Follow all Aultman Health Foundation policies and procedures for safety, infection control, HIPAA, etc. Facilitate and coordinate rooms on assigned teams. Fax reports and release images to outside facilities. Call and confirm patient appointments and give instructions. Take patients on and off the imaging table. Assist in room clean‑up, room turnover, and positioning of patients when applicable. Prioritize the needs of assigned rooms to best utilize availability. Be available for emergencies that arise in assigned rooms. Organize and put away equipment and stock to specific areas. Serve as resource person, problem‑solver, and facilitator for assigned rooms. Ensure that all supplies and laundry are ready and available for remaining exams before leaving for the day. Perform modality‑specific responsibilities depending on area the aide works in. Working Conditions Variable shift rotation that includes but is not limited to 7:00 am–3:30 pm, 9:00 am–5:30 pm, etc. Breaks and lunch are coordinated with other personnel and workload. Frequent changes in duties throughout working hours. Cross training in all areas is required, as diverse duties may be assigned. Involved with personnel, patients, and physicians under all circumstances and conditions. Hazardous Exposure Category Category I – Includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job‑related tasks that involve an inherent potential for spills or splashes of, or mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
