Applications Architect

The Senior Applications Architect is responsible for designing and specifying the overall structure and interrelationships of complex applications within large, distributed environments. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing cross-platform applications, defining interfaces and reusable components, and ensuring application performance, security, and reliability. The architect will also lead enterprise-wide cloud transformations and specialize in IBM Maximo application platform enhancements. Responsibilities:

• Design and specify the overall architecture, logical components, and interrelationships of applications and systems.
• Develop, implement, and manage cross-platform applications in distributed environments.
• Define interactions between application packages, databases, and middleware systems.
• Monitor system performance and manage application limitations and requirements.
• Lead major enterprise-wide cloud transformation initiatives including Cloud adoption and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Refine IBM Maximo application functionality, uptime, performance, security, and environmental impact.
• Document functional and technical designs and configure applications to support business processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate new features, benefits, and assessments.
• Lead multi-tier application infrastructure design, documentation, and configuration.

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development, systems engineering, or similar roles with leadership experience.
• Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Math, or equivalent experience and certifications.
• Extensive experience with multiple computing platforms, operating systems, database technologies, programming languages, and communication protocols.
• Proficiency with IBM Maximo suite, including versions 7.6 and working knowledge of 9.1, with expertise in upgrades and development.
• Competency in Maximo modules such as Work Order Management, Asset Management, Preventive and Corrective Maintenance, Configuration, Scripting, Report Development, and system interfacing.
• Experience leading enterprise cloud transformations and working knowledge of private and public cloud systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Experience in technical advisory or consulting roles, preferably within the utility industry.

• Experience with object-oriented analysis and design techniques.
• Knowledge of Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture methodologies and practices.
• Understanding of Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
• Experience designing detailed functional and technical requirements for business solutions.
• Experience developing enterprise architecture deliverables such as models and documentation.
• Strong process management and control skills to minimize risk exposure.
• Experience with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and project management software.
• Maximo super-user capabilities.

• Must be able to work onsite at least 3 days per week.
• Experience working within public sector environments is required.
• Strong teamwork, facilitation, and stakeholder communication skills are essential.

• Standard work schedule with a requirement to be onsite three days per week.
