Job Description

This role operates within a busy machine shop, where you will set up and run CNC lathes to produce high-quality parts for large volume manufacturing projects. You read and interpret blueprints and work orders to perform accurate setups, conduct in-process inspections to verify part dimensions, and maintain precise documentation throughout the production process.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines on 2nd shift to produce parts according to specifications.
• Review and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work orders to determine correct machine setup and machining sequence.
• Perform changeovers between jobs efficiently to support production schedules.
• Conduct in-process inspections to verify dimensions and quality of parts using appropriate measurement tools.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of inspections, production data, and any adjustments made during machining.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic machining and setup issues, applying problem-solving skills to maintain quality and throughput.
• Follow established Class B competency standards and shop procedures to ensure consistent performance.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve issues as they arise.
• Keep the work area, machines, and tools clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines, or equivalent trade school experience.
• Hands-on experience with CNC lathes and machine operation in a production or job shop environment.
• Ability to perform changeovers and setups efficiently on CNC equipment.
• Experience working with multi-axis equipment such as 5-axis machines and Multus-style machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work orders accurately.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, including the ability to pass or meet Class B competency expectations.
• Attention to detail with the ability to perform precise in-process inspections and verify part dimensions.
• Ability to maintain accurate and legible documentation related to production and quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience recalling or working with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programs is preferred.
• Formal trade school training in machining or CNC technology is beneficial.
• Strong focus on quality and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on a fast-paced production floor.

Work Environment

This position works on 2nd shift, from 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m ., within a 104,000 square foot manufacturing facility. The environment is a modern machine shop equipped with CNC lathes and multi-axis machining technology, where you spend most of your time on the production floor operating and monitoring equipment. The facility offers an onsite gym for employee use and an employee lounge with comfortable seating and a flatscreen TV for breaks. The culture supports informal, friendly interactions, including monthly barbeques and company events, and allows employees to bring their dogs to work on Wednesdays and Thursdays, contributing to a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. 

This is a Permanent position based out of Northfield, NH.

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $75504.00/yr.
