Salary The annual salary for this position ranges from $62,000 to $67,000. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. Documents Needed to Apply Resume Cover letter Purpose of Position This position is responsible for complex reconciliations, financial reporting, grant and project accounting, compliance monitoring, and analytical support for departmental and university financial operations. The role supports budgeting, audits, and training initiatives to ensure fiscal integrity and operational efficiency. Essential Functions Reconcile multiple cost centers, project accounts, and balance sheets across assigned departments. Investigate and resolve discrepancies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Prepare, review, and analyze accounting records and financial statements. Develop and maintain financial reports and analytical summaries for decision-making and management reporting. Supervise administrative support staff and/or lower-level accounting personnel on reconciliation procedures, accounting policies, or financial reporting tools. May determine financial and accounting processes and procedures for a department or a division. Prepare and review journal entries, interdepartmental transfers, and budget adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to accounting standards. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reports. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and university policies. Participate in annual budget preparation, fiscal year-end closing, and carry-forward entries. Analyze trends, identify variances, and provide recommendations for operational improvement. Manage post-award accounting for grants and sponsored projects, including budget development, expenditure tracking, billing, and compliance with sponsor and university requirements. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible accounting experience or ten (10) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Experience working at an institution of higher education and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Experience in grant accounting. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency with PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Work Schedule Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm Hybrid eligible. Working Conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Lifting and moving objects.
