Our Tampa office is a genuine trial shop - associates argue motions, defend depositions, and sit at counsel table within their first year. If you want hands-on litigation experience at a premier multi-office defense firm (not document review), this role is built for you.What you'll doOwn a caseload of complex civil defense files from inception through trial preparation, working with a high degree of independenceDraft and argue substantive motions - including motions for summary judgment - before Florida state and federal courtsConduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, fact witnesses, and expert witnessesLead written discovery strategy: draft requests, responses, and objections tailored to each case's risk profileRepresent clients at hearings, mediations, and arbitrations with partner oversight and mentorshipServe as a strategic point of contact for corporate clients and insurance claims adjusters, delivering clear case assessments and settlement recommendationsCollaborate with senior trial partners on jury trial preparation, including witness outlines and trial briefsWhat you needActive Florida Bar membership in good standingThree plus years of civil litigation experience, with meaningful exposure to defense-side mattersDemonstrated legal writing ability: briefs, motions, and memoranda that partners want to fileHands-on deposition experience (taking or defending)Nice to havePrior background in insurance defense, general liability, product liability, or commercial casualtyExperience managing a litigation file from case assignment through trial or resolutionFamiliarity with Florida insurance coverage issues and claims-adjusting relationshipsPay & benefitsBase salary: $115,000 - $155,000 / year, commensurate with experienceBonus: Performance-based bonus structure aligned with billable hour targetsHealth coverage: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance optionsRetirement: 401(k) plan with employer matching optionsProfessional development: Structured training through the firm's monthly Associate College program plus direct, ongoing mentorship from trial partnersAdditional perks: Coverage of bar dues, ongoing CLE expenses, and a monthly cell phone stipend
