Laboratory - Phlebotomist

Registered Phlebotomist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Shifts are available in both Day and Night formats: Day 5x7.5-Hour (06:00 - 14:00) and Night 5x7.5-Hour (22:00 - 06:00). Must be available to work nights, days, or evenings, with a combination of all expected. You will receive your schedule 2 weeks prior to the start of that week.

The role requires flexibility as staff will need to float between various units, providing care for both inpatient and outpatient settings. The position involves performing essential laboratory procedures, adhering to CLSI recommended blood draw orders, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during specimen collection.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and specimen collections according to established protocols.
• Instruct patients on proper specimen collection and preservation techniques.
• Process and deliver specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Maintain proper labeling, disposal, and quality assurance practices for laboratory samples.
• Utilize the Epic charting system for accurate record-keeping and patient management.
• Identify and respond promptly to emergency situations as they arise.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Registered Phlebotomist certification is required.
• New York state licensure is mandatory for submission.
