Business Unit Controller

A great UHY client is seeking a Business Unit Controller (Commercial) to join their growing finance organization. This role will serve as a key commercial finance leader supporting quoting, forecasting, financial modeling, and customer profitability analysis within a newly formed business structure resulting from a recent merger. The position plays a critical role in evaluating program economics, supporting commercial decision-making, and partnering closely with engineering, sales, and program management teams. The Business Unit Controller (Commercial) role is an onsite position based in Troy, MI. This is a permanent opportunity offering high visibility within a newly established commercial finance function, with the ability to directly influence customer strategy, pricing decisions, and program profitability across a growing global automotive organization. Business Unit Controller (Commercial) Responsibilities Partner with business teams to support commercial decision-making, including pricing, quoting, and program profitability analysis Lead forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling activities for assigned business unit/customer groups Evaluate customer financial performance to identify opportunities for improved profitability and strategic growth Support the quotation process, including analysis of new business versus cost-to-serve impact Collaborate with engineering, sales, and program management teams on financial implications of program decisions and changes Provide financial insight into pre-production and production activities, including tooling and program cost analysis Analyze customer roadmaps and identify opportunities for pricing adjustments or business optimization Support cross-functional teams in evaluating engineering changes, pricing negotiations, and program adjustments Act as the finance lead for assigned commercial business teams supporting customer-facing operations Operate as a key financial partner within a newly structured commercial organization with minimal direct reports Business Unit Controller (Commercial) Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 5–10+ years of experience in manufacturing finance, commercial finance, program finance, or FP&A required Automotive or industrial manufacturing experience strongly preferred Strong forecasting, financial modeling, and analytical skills required Experience supporting quoting, costing, or program financial analysis preferred Exposure to pre-production planning tools, costing systems, or quoting systems (e.g., PCM or similar) preferred Strong business acumen with ability to partner closely with engineering and commercial teams Experience in a fast-paced, matrixed organization strongly preferred Strong communication skills with ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders Comfort operating in a newly formed or evolving organizational structure #J-18808-Ljbffr UHY-US
