Controls Systems Technician

Job Overview Johnson Controls is a global leader in building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, helping customers use energy more productively and reduce carbon emissions. Responsibilities Perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools. Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems. Respond to basic warranty calls. Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. Act as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes during service. Load system‑level controller software and perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system‑level controllers to end devices (e.g., sensors, actuators), completing all required commissioning documentation. Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues. Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment. Complete administrative tasks including timesheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation. Document changes and provide information for as‑built documentation. Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training. Demonstrate a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Qualifications HVAC license or a 2‑year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field. Minimum of two years related working experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry. Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques. Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts ethically and professionally. Ability to explain technical information to technical and non‑technical people. Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical building automation equipment on a job site. PC experience and ability to program HVAC‑related software. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $23.00–$31.00 (determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities). Competitive benefits package.
