OLLAS Educational Outreach Coordinator

Office Description The Office of Latino/Latin American Studies of the Great Plains (OLLAS) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) was established in 2003 through the collaborative efforts of faculty, staff, students, federal support, and the Greater Omaha community. OLLAS addresses a key need in the Nebraska and Great Plains region by focusing on the inclusion of the growing Latino population in political, economic, and social life. The office provides a strong academic platform to deepen understanding of Latino and Latin American issues that shape the region. Its initiatives include a major in Latino/Latin American Studies and a minor in Chicano/Latino Studies, along with research and community engagement programs. OLLAS works with students, faculty, businesses, policymakers, and community organizations to build collaborative, capacity‑building models for an increasingly diverse and global environment. Role Description The OLLAS Educational Outreach Coordinator works with local schools to promote scholarships that are administered by OLLAS; organizes and coordinates the OLLAS learning community, meets regularly with scholarship recipients, and builds and maintains relationships with school related stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a social science field, humanities, or Social Work. Knowledge of the Omaha metro and local schools and Bilingual (Spanish-English).
