Senior HR Generalist

Yona Solutions is a fast-growing, multi-state provider of facility support services with a strong mission to serve healthcare and senior living communities nationwide in environmental and nutrition services.

The Senior HR Generalist serves as a key business partner providing both strategic and hands-on HR support across multiple states. This individual plays a critical role in employee and labor relations, workers’ compensation, training and development, compliance, and performance management. The ideal candidate brings experience working in unionized and non-unionized settings, has multi-state HR knowledge, and thrives in a rapidly scaling company.

What you’ll do:

  • Partners with the HR Director and team to develop and implement the HR strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, supporting all aspects of the employee lifecycle. Provides coaching to managers on performance, employee relations, disciplinary actions, and retention.
  • Acts as the performance improvement driver and provokes positive change in people management.
  • Actively identifies gaps, and proposes and implements necessary changes to cover risk, efficiency, etc.
  • Leads and manages employee and labor relations, including grievance resolution, investigations, and union communications.
  • Handles routine and complex labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements.
  • Leads all employee investigations within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal labor laws (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, ADA, Title VII) across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Supports with entering workers’ compensation claims into the system, drafting return to work letters, and communicates with managers on certain aspects of worker’s compensation.
  • Drives HR process improvements and implements best practices.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally on HR projects that support strategic growth.
  • Maintains and updates personnel records, HRIS data, and ensures accuracy and confidentiality of information.
  • Supports discussions and transfers best practices from different functions in the organization.
  • Stays informed about the business, industry trends, advances, and ensures that HR has strategic plans in place to address new growth.
  • Completes various required audits to ensure compliance.
  • Uses data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 6–10+ years of progressive HR experience, with strong emphasis on employee and labor relations.
  • Demonstrated experience advising and coaching managers on performance management, employee relations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Hands-on experience conducting workplace investigations, including complex and sensitive cases.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, Title VII) across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience working in unionized environments and handling labor relations matters, including grievances and collective bargaining agreement interpretation.
  • Proven ability to identify gaps, assess risk, and implement process improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate both independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with multi-state labor laws and HR compliance in fast-paced organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); HRIS experience preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).
