Off-Campus Inspector, 2 year Fixed Term

Overview Off-Campus Housing Inspector, within Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE) at Stanford University, coordinates the maintenance and general repair of assigned apartments in the Off-Campus Subsidized Housing (OCH) program. Serves as a liaison to property managers and R&DE staff. This is an essential on-site role with no telecommuting. Responsibilities Coordinate day-to-day operations of the OCH portfolio, including inspections and oversight of work orders; act as liaison to property managers; advocate for residents. Coordinate facility changes and modifications for students residing in OCH housing in collaboration with the Office of Accessible Education (OAE). Prepare student residences after departure for new arrivals, including inspections, cleaning, vendor management, work orders, and final inspections. Plan and execute scheduling and other operations necessary for success; partner with R&DE departments, Stanford external departments, and external clientele to manage resident housing needs. Provide prompt follow-through on actionable health and safety issues. Coordinate emergency response when conditions cause damage to facilities; collaborate with campus partners on relocations as needed to maintain operations. Communication Interact with students/residents in person, by phone, or electronically; use appropriate methods for urgent requests; follow up on facility needs and requests. Coordinate with Housing Service Center staff regarding occupancy, keys, day-to-day operations, room conditions, and cleaning schedules. Inform supervisor and R&DE administration promptly about urgent or life-threatening conditions. Minimum Requirements Education & Experience: Associate degree and two years related facilities administration experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to utilize technology in support of facilities management (work order systems, spreadsheets, trend analysis, etc.). Experience in a higher education residential environment is preferred. Ability to coordinate daily activities including work scheduling, quality assurance, program validation, monitoring of maintenance activities, and supervision of personnel. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on projects with tight timelines and limited resources. Experience working with subcontractors/vendors and monitoring project activities for compliance with regulations. Ability to interpret policies and follow written and verbal directions, communicating them to others. Knowledge of environmental and safety rules and ability to conduct job site inspections for compliance. Certifications and Licenses: Must possess a valid CA driver’s license. Physical Requirements Frequent sitting and desk-based computer tasks; lift/carry/push/pull up to 10 pounds; visual inspections of facilities. Frequent standing/walking (including stairs), twisting/bending/stooping/squatting; grasping and manipulation; use of a telephone; lifting up to 20 pounds. Rarely kneel/crawl, climb, reach above shoulders, or perform heavy lifting (>40 pounds). Working Conditions May work evenings and weekends during peak periods or in response to urgent or emergency scenarios. May be exposed to noise and work at heights (4–10 ft).
