Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:00) Experience: 2 years of medical-surgical experience required, PCU experience required License: Valid state license required Certifications: BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 years of medical-surgical experience - PCU experience - Comfortable floating across MS and PCU units - Must be SC licensed - 1:5 to 1:6 patient ratios - First-time travelers accepted - No license or background hits Description: This position requires medical-surgical experience with a focus on adult and pediatric care. Travelers will float across medical-surgical and progressive care units. The nurse will manage patient care with ratios of 1:5 during the day. Candidates should have experience with BCLS and NIHSS certifications. Candidates will need to adhere to required COVID-19 and flu vaccinations. As a member of the healthcare team, responsibilities include the administration of medications, patient education, and monitoring of patient status. The facility supports a variety of patient diagnoses including stroke, hyperglycemia, renal failure, and atrial fibrillation. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Nurses are expected to be flexible with scheduling, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed. Candidates should have skills in managing a range of clinical scenarios, including IV management, infection prevention, and telemetry. Documentation will be done using an electronic medical record system. This unit has high patient care ratios and floating, so candidates must be comfortable with this aspect of the role.
