Tax Reporting Lead Analyst, AVP/VP Wealth management · Private wealth Location New Jersey Schedule Hybrid, 3 days in office Function Tax operations Line NRA withholding and reporting The opportunity A private wealth management firm in New Jersey is hiring a tax reporting lead analyst for its tax operations team. You’d be the firm’s technical expert on nonresident alien withholding and information reporting, with primary ownership of Forms 1042 and 1042-S. It’s a replacement hire. What you’ll own Own the Form 1042-S process end to end: data validation, reconciliation, filing, corrections and amendments. Reconcile Form 1042 to Forms 1042-S, withholding liabilities, federal tax deposits and IRS account transcripts, and resolve discrepancies. Review Forms W-8 for validity, recipient status, withholding rates and treaty eligibility. Advise on the Chapter 3 and FATCA treatment of corporate actions, income distributions and cross-border transactions. Track regulatory changes and work with operations and technology on system enhancements, testing and automation. Support year-end reporting on Forms 1099, 1099-R and 5498. What the firm is looking for Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or taxation, or equivalent professional experience. 5 to 7 years of tax information reporting, with substantial hands‑on Forms 1042 and 1042‑S work. Advanced knowledge of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 (FATCA), Forms W-8, and treaty and withholding rules, with the judgment to research and resolve complex issues on your own. Form 1042 reconciliation and IRS account transcript analysis. Advanced Excel, and the ability to explain complex tax issues to business and technology partners. Preferred: controls, audit or regulatory exam support; FIS Wall Street Concepts or Global Plus; Forms 1099 reporting; SIFMA involvement.
