Assistant/Associate Director, Schools & Programs

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant/Associate Director (AD) will serve as a project manager and content expert for a portfolio of schools and programs that comprise BC’s most prominent areas of research, teaching, and service. The AD will act as a resource to colleagues in functional areas across UA, primarily Development, Stewardship, Communications, and the Alumni Association. The AD will supply verbal and written content and access to relevant university partners and will play a key role in ensuring consistency and accuracy of messaging across these functions. The role requires coordination with Directors of Development, the Executive Director, and the AVPs and may involve developing new areas of expertise or working on other projects as assigned. Support for Schools & Programs The AD in Schools & Programs will support and advance the BC School of Law, the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, and other academic initiatives to increase support and awareness for the schools’ and areas’ innovative programs, faculty and student achievements, research, and interdisciplinary initiatives. The AD will develop written content for proposals, appeals, reports, and correspondence and work with Prospect Research to identify a pipeline of constituent and non‑constituent prospects. Proficiency with CRM and data analysis is required. Associate Director Level At the Associate Director level, the individual may manage or serve as a collaborative partner for a small portfolio of prospects whose gifts are connected to their areas of content expertise. As they progress developmentally, this portion of the job may increase commensurate with skills and career aspirations. Salary & Level Title and salary are commensurate with relevant experience: Assistant Director: $67,350 – $84,200; 1–3 years experience Associate Director – Level 1: $74,450 – $93,050; 3–5 years experience Associate Director – Level 2: $80,100 – $100,150; 5+ years experience Requirements This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher. For the Assistant Director position, 1–3 years of professional‑level experience in higher education or a minimum of two years in a related fundraising area is required. For the first level Associate Director, 3–5 years of experience in a higher education setting with emphasis on communications, stewardship, project management and frontline fundraising is required. For the second level Associate Director, a minimum five years of experience in a higher educational setting, again with emphasis on communications, stewardship, project management and frontline fundraising, is required. Successful candidates will possess intellectual rigor, the ability to bridge sectors, excellent written and verbal communication skills, understanding the needs of university officials and staff, data proficiency, an orientation to service and collaboration, and strong time‑management and prioritization skills.
