Control food usage to minimize waste. Ultimately, you will contribute to delivering a pleasant dining experience for our guests.Essential Functions and Basic Duties:Participate in the preparation of all cakes, cookies, desserts, ice creams and other food items prepared in the pastry shop and bakery. Ensure that all desserts are prepared in an attractive and appetizing manner.Regularly inspect the quality and quantity of pastry, croissants, breads and other bakery goods for the buffets and for all outside orders.Check daily function sheets and prepare items accordingly.Ensure the proper handling, cleanliness and maintenance of the working area (including marble, ice cream machine and cold room, etc.). Maintain sanitation, cleanliness, safety and health standards. Inspect the sanitation, operation and cleanliness of all tools, equipment and supplies, including ovens.Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.Advice supervisor of low inventory items; assists in receiving items and taking inventory as required.Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and Holiday Inn requirements.Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.Requirements and Skills:Work experience as a pastry cook or similar roleWillingness to work as a team player when preparing dishes and coordinating meal serviceOrganizational skills to maintain an orderly workspace and kitchenHands-on experience with professional kitchen equipmentGood knowledge of food plating techniquesUnderstanding of health and safety rules in a kitchenPhysical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods of time when cooking and preparing foodWillingness to work required shifts, i.e., night shift, breakfast rush, including evenings and weekendsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentA degree from a culinary school is a plus
