Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year required; first timers accepted License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Experience in cardiac telemetry - Ability to manage patients with post MI, heart failure, arrhythmias, and chest pain - Proficiency in telemetry, EKG, and Doppler Description: The position requires a registered nurse specializing in cardiac telemetry. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of experience, though first-time travelers are welcomed. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. Candidates must hold BLS and ACLS certifications. Experience with the following is essential: post MI, heart failure, arrhythmias, and chest pain management. Other necessary skills include monitoring telemetry, EKG interpretation, and Doppler use. The nurse will be expected to work with a patient ratio of 1:5. The average daily census is 16 with a total of 16 beds. The unit employs Epic for charting; experience with this system is required. Staff is expected to float within the facility as needed. Weekends require six shifts within a six-week schedule. If one major holiday falls during the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. Two holidays require working both; if three holidays occur during the assignment, two must be worked. Compliance is required to start on time. All onboarding is necessary within a designated timeframe to ensure a timely start. Clinical screening will occur to determine fit before proceeding to the final decision. Additional skills that are advantageous include: - Blood product administration - Central line care - Chest tube management - Telemetry monitoring - IV insulin protocols - Tracheostomy care - Wound care management Responsibilities may include participation in rapid response teams and use of care protocols. Interdisciplinary support is available for various patient needs. This role is essential for managing patients with conditions such as CHF, dysrhythmias, and vascular issues. The successful candidate will contribute actively to patient care and safety in the telemetry unit setting.
