PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a full‑time, inpatient APC to provide primary and specialty medical services in a University Health Sciences hospital unit. Success requires collaboration, excellence, leadership, and respect. Responsibilities Coordinate inpatient care, consultations/referrals, referring provider follow‑up, and discharges. Work with attendings, residents, nurses, medical students, health care assistants, and unlicensed support staff. Collaborate closely with the inpatient health care team regarding patient health plans and treatment. Order, interpret, and evaluate labs and diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs. Perform selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. Initiate and/or recommend medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. Counsel patients, families, and significant others about health and illness, and promote health maintenance. Evaluate, plan, implement, and re‑evaluate care of individuals requiring emergency measures. Comply with medical records policies regarding complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiate and maintain required records and legal documents. Participate in quality improvement activities. Minimum Qualifications Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by department or privileging criteria. Utah State prescriptive privileges. Master’s degree in Nursing (or equivalent) and a National Certification that requires completion of a nationally accredited examination. Application of credentialing and privileging at the time of hire per UHPPM1‑56. Immunization according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Preferences 2+ years of experience in a clinical environment. Academic experience, supervision abilities, and Spanish speaking capabilities welcomed. Additional services may be supported based on specific provider expertise. Exceptional leadership, communication, and administrative skills; ability to work independently. Excellent time‑management, organization, and efficiency skills. As a School of Medicine staff member, student and resident education will be a critical component.
