Description:

The Junior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of Crescent Power Systems, including month-end close, billing and receivables, financial reporting, and project cost support. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, assists in the preparation of reports used by management for decision-making, and works closely with the project management team to maintain reliable project-level financial data. The Jr Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the company’s accounting processes and supporting continuous improvement across the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & General Accounting

• Perform assigned month-end close tasks, including bank reconciliations, recurring and standard journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Verify and record vendor invoices, schedule and remit payments, and prioritize past-due balances.
• Maintain accurate expense records and ensure transactions are coded correctly in the accounting software.

Billing & Receivables

• Bill customers, record receipts, and apply payments accurately.
• Monitor overdue accounts, follow up on collections, and prepare weekly accounts receivable updates.
• Maintain work-in-progress and accounts receivable schedules.

Reporting & Analysis

• Assist in compiling monthly financial reports, project margin summaries, and internal reporting packages.
• Support the preparation of draft financial statements for management review.
• Assist with variance analysis by gathering supporting data and drafting preliminary explanations of budget/forecast vs. actual results.
• Support the annual budget and quarterly forecast process by collecting inputs and maintaining supporting schedules.

Project & Cash Flow Support

• Collaborate with project managers to gather, update, and reconcile project-specific financial data.
• Assist in projecting cash flow and determining payment milestones for new quotes and active projects.

Process & Onboarding

• Help identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and documentation.
• Support communication and information flow between the accounting and project management teams.
