A well-established, mission-driven organization is seeking a dependable Part-Time Staff Accountant to support its day-to-day financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys detailed work, values accuracy, and is comfortable managing recurring responsibilities independently.

Working closely with the organization's financial leadership, the Staff Accountant will assist with reconciliations, transaction review, month-end reporting, audit preparation, and other accounting projects. This is an onsite position with a consistent part-time schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations accurately and on schedule
• Review incoming contribution activity, verify coding, process transactions, and resolve discrepancies
• Examine accounts payable entries for accuracy and prepare supporting materials for approval
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules
• Organize reports and supporting documentation for the annual audit
• Help prepare budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and internal financial reports
• Maintain clear and current accounting procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen financial controls
• Assist with special accounting and finance projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• At least two years of professional accounting experience
• Previous nonprofit accounting experience is helpful but not required
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, accounts payable, transaction coding, and month-end close
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
• Experience working with donor, customer, or financial database systems is preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet firm deadlines
• Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial information
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with colleagues and leadership

Candidates must be able to maintain a dependable part-time schedule and meet critical month-end and audit deadlines. Some additional availability may be needed during annual audits, budgeting periods, or other high-volume projects.
