HR Generalist

About The Company Our client is a well-established organization in the Washington, DC area seeking an experienced HR professional to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to contribute to a collaborative organization while supporting a broad range of HR functions in a hybrid environment. Job Description The Human Resources Generalist will provide hands‑on support across a variety of HR activities and serve as a resource to employees and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a well‑rounded understanding of HR operations, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and workplace matters, helping facilitate appropriate resolutions and consistent HR practices Coordinate key employee lifecycle activities, including new hire onboarding, departures, benefits‑related processes, and personnel file maintenance Provide administrative and coordination support throughout the recruiting process, including candidate scheduling, interview logistics, and communication with hiring teams Help maintain adherence to applicable employment regulations and internal policies by organizing documentation and supporting compliance‑related activities Assist with employee performance processes, professional development efforts, training coordination, and engagement initiatives Maintain and update employee information within HR systems while ensuring records are complete and accurate Partner with the HR team on various projects and operational priorities as needed Qualifications 3–5+ years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or similarly broad HR role; experience in an association, nonprofit, or professional services environment is a plus Working knowledge of core HR functions, including employee relations, benefits, recruiting, payroll coordination, HRIS administration, and employment compliance Experience working with HR technology; familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and applicant tracking systems is preferred Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to accuracy and follow‑through Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting employees and internal teams Bachelor’s degree required; SHRM certification is a plus Additional Details This is a hybrid contract opportunity based in Washington, DC. The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with the broader HR team and have exposure to a variety of HR functions and initiatives throughout the assignment.
