Two Positions Available: North Providence Career Center – 1810 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI Smithfield Career Center – 7 Esmond Street, Smithfield, RI Position Summary : Tri-County Community Action Agency is seeking two highly motivated, compassionate, and goal-oriented Career Counselor/Case Managers to join our Education, Employment & Training team. This position plays a critical role in helping youth and young adults, primarily ages 14–24 , identify meaningful career pathways and successfully achieve their educational and employment goals. The successful candidate will possess strong counseling, case management, and workforce development skills with the ability to build trusting relationships while guiding participants through a comprehensive career planning process. A key responsibility of this position is developing individualized, thorough Career Plans that assess each participant's interests, strengths, skills, abilities, and barriers to employment, resulting in realistic short-, mid-, and long-term education and career goals. Primary Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive participant intake, assessment, and eligibility determination. Develop individualized Career Plans that align participants' documented skills, interests, aptitudes, and career aspirations with viable education, training, and employment pathways. Help participants establish measurable short-, intermediate-, and long-term academic, career, and financial goals while monitoring progress and revising plans as needed. Provide ongoing case management, coaching, encouragement, and accountability to support successful completion of each participant's service plan. Identify barriers to success and coordinate appropriate interventions through internal and external referrals, advocacy, and supportive services. Maintain regular contact with participants through all phases of program participation, including follow-up after employment or educational placement. Deliver positive reinforcement, career coaching, conflict resolution, and motivational support that empowers participants to achieve self-sufficiency. Maintain accurate documentation and track participant progress using required database systems (EmployRI / LACES) to ensure compliance with contractual and performance requirements. Coordinate participant engagement in program activities, which may include: Career exploration and labor market research Work readiness and professional skills training Resume development, interviewing, and job search assistance Financial and digital literacy Household budgeting and financial planning Credit education and credit-building resources Paid and unpaid work experiences Postsecondary education and college transition Apprenticeships, military service, occupational training, and industry-recognized credential programs Employment placement and retention services Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Experience working with youth and young adults, preferably ages 14–24. Experience in case management, career counseling, workforce development, education, human services, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, and mentor individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experience working with at-risk youth and young adults, including individuals with learning differences or other barriers to employment and education. Strong interviewing, assessment, documentation, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently while effectively managing a diverse caseload and meeting program performance goals. Knowledge of community resources and workforce development systems is preferred.
