Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Rochester, NY
Shift: Nights
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Travel Pay: $2,100 – $2,200 per week

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) to provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical, telemetry, and cardiac patients in an acute care environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, and the ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and cardiac patients .
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and monitor changes in patient condition.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and identify and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias.
• Participate in Rapid Response Team activities as required.
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertion and management.
• Administer and monitor oxygen therapy and provide non-invasive airway support within scope of practice.
• Follow isolation precautions and established infection-control procedures.
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic EMR .
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established nursing protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and changes in patient condition.
• Float between comparable units as needed based on staffing and patient-care requirements.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and patient safety practices.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience .
• Current BLS certification required.
• Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement .
• Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Previous experience caring for MS/Tele and cardiac patients .
• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to respond effectively during emergencies and rapidly changing clinical situations.
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
