Department Neurosciences APPs - JCMC Pay Range $125,000.00 – $195,000.00 per year Schedule Full‑time, Day shift, 40 hours per week. Must be able to work rotating schedule including day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Compensation offered will depend on educational background, skills, and experience. Job Overview The Physician Assistant is an independent health care provider who coordinates inpatient and outpatient care, collaborating with the Physician. The PA provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners / Physician Assistant Advisory Committee. Qualifications Graduate of an AMA-accredited Physician Assistant program and licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. Successful completion of all required orientation programs. CDS, DEA, BLS, and ACLS certifications. Must obtain ATLS within the first year of employment. Essential Functions Provides pre‑operative, operative, and post‑operative patient care under the direction and supervision of the attending surgeon. Responds to and participates in the evaluation and resuscitation of trauma patients. Act as the neurosurgical liaison by evaluating and informing the on-call neurosurgeon of new and established patients. Observe and care for the service patients in the surgical intensive care unit, inform critical care intensivist of patient condition, and participate in daily rounds. Assist in neurosurgical and neuroendovascular procedures and operations. Enhance professional growth and development through attendance and/or participation in CME programs. Obtain and record detailed and accurate case histories and physical examinations at the direction of supervising physician. Participate in the education of medical and physician assistant students. Assist in delivery of health care services, including progress notes, requests for non-invasive diagnostic studies. Perform routine therapeutic procedures ordered by supervising physician, such as injections, medication administration, and diagnostic studies. Provide patient counseling and education, facilitate referrals to hospital services, and transcribe or execute specific orders per supervising physician. Report observations in progress notes, delineate problems, and present findings to supervising physician. Suture and care for wounds, remove sutures and clips, and change dressings under supervision. Perform procedures including insertion of EVD, ICP monitors, and lumbar drains as needed. Work rotating schedule including day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
