Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday (1pm - 9pm)
Location: McMinnville, OR (with Travel Stipend bonus )
Type: Full-Time (40hrs) / Non-Exempt
General Position Summary
The Lodge Skills Trainer is a position to assist in the care and treatment of youth with behavioral needs or emotional disturbances who are referred for respite services at the Rainbow Lodge. The Skills Trainer will provide a consistent presence, skills training, and emotional support in a safe, secure manner, to youth ages 6-17 that are served by the Rainbow Lodge respite program. The Skills Trainer will work in collaboration with Lodge staff as well as Yamhill County Family & Youth Care Coordinators and families to determine appropriate skill building activities and opportunities for children and youth. Skill Builder will create safety plans for Lodge youth as well as intake documents to assess skills needed by youth accessing respite Lodge services.

Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Meet QMHA (Qualified Mental Health Associate) classifications which include a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (or a related field) or an Associate’s degree plus at least 2 years of work experience in Human Service/Mental Health field, or a High School diploma plus at least 4 years of work experience in Human Service/Mental Health field.
Reliable transportation, valid Oregon driver’s license (or the ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of hire) with a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy and personal automobile liability insurance.
Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
Education and experience in a field relevant in the treatment of children with behavior needs preferred.

Essential Position Functions and Key Work Processes
Deliver individual and small group skills training in areas including but not limited to independent living/self-sufficiency, wellness, education, coping skills, and navigating the medical community for children and youth.
Establish rapport by demonstrating and maintaining clear, consistent, appropriate, and therapeutic boundaries.
Demonstrate alignment with the philosophy of Collaborative Problem Solving by utilizing the approaches in interactions with children and youth, families, staff, and community partners.
Actively interact and supervise children and youth both in the community and within the milieu to maintain safety.
Demonstrate knowledge of children and youth development.
Demonstrate ability to adjust services and therapeutic approaches based on developmental level and group interactions of children and youth.
Provide transportation in an agency fleet vehicle for activities and skill building opportunities.
Safely de-escalate children and youth in crisis situations by effectively using verbal intervention skills and positive behavior support.
Concisely and thoroughly document daily therapeutic information. Provide timely and accurate documentation in an electronic medical records system.
Abide by ethical codes, mission, values, and professional standards, including confidentiality.
Actively utilize, reference, and follow agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Present a positive attitude, professional demeanor and demonstrated respect with children, youth, families, staff, visitors, and community partners.
Perform all work tasks in a proper and safe manner per established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Comply with all federal, state, and agency health and safety reporting requirements.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Secondary Position Functions
Communicate to the Site Supervisor, in a timely manner, any concerns and/or questions that arise.
Attend meetings and trainings as assigned by the Site Supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Lodge Site Supervisor.
