Pay: $18.77 - $23.85 / Hour

Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday (1pm - 9pm)

Location: McMinnville, OR (with Travel Stipend bonus )

Type: Full-Time (40hrs) / Non-Exempt

General Position Summary

The Lodge Skills Trainer is a position to assist in the care and treatment of youth with behavioral needs or emotional disturbances who are referred for respite services at the Rainbow Lodge. The Skills Trainer will provide a consistent presence, skills training, and emotional support in a safe, secure manner, to youth ages 6-17 that are served by the Rainbow Lodge respite program. The Skills Trainer will work in collaboration with Lodge staff as well as Yamhill County Family & Youth Care Coordinators and families to determine appropriate skill building activities and opportunities for children and youth. Skill Builder will create safety plans for Lodge youth as well as intake documents to assess skills needed by youth accessing respite Lodge services.

Minimum Requirements

1. Must be at least 18 years of age.

1. Meet QMHA (Qualified Mental Health Associate) classifications which include a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (or a related field) or an Associate’s degree plus at least 2 years of work experience in Human Service/Mental Health field, or a High School diploma plus at least 4 years of work experience in Human Service/Mental Health field.

1. Reliable transportation, valid Oregon driver’s license (or the ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of hire) with a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy and personal automobile liability insurance.

1. Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.

1. Education and experience in a field relevant in the treatment of children with behavior needs preferred.

Essential Position Functions and Key Work Processes

1. Deliver individual and small group skills training in areas including but not limited to independent living/self-sufficiency, wellness, education, coping skills, and navigating the medical community for children and youth.

1. Establish rapport by demonstrating and maintaining clear, consistent, appropriate, and therapeutic boundaries.

1. Demonstrate alignment with the philosophy of Collaborative Problem Solving by utilizing the approaches in interactions with children and youth, families, staff, and community partners.

1. Provide transportation in an agency fleet vehicle for activities and skill building opportunities.

1. Concisely and thoroughly document daily therapeutic information. Provide timely and accurate documentation in an electronic medical records system.

Secondary Position Functions

1. Communicate to the Site Supervisor, in a timely manner, any concerns and/or questions that arise.

1. Attend meetings and trainings as assigned by the Site Supervisor.

1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lodge Site Supervisor.

This position has occasional interruptions with frequent deadlines. A variety of interactions are required. In addition, these are the physical demands of the position: Occasionally is defined as 0 – 1/3 of an 8-hour day; Frequently is defined as 1/3 – 2/3 of an 8-hour day; Continuously is defined as 2/3 – 3/3 of an 8-hour day.)

1. Standing – Frequently, while walking between rooms, while monitoring meal preparation, walking to meetings.

1. Lifting and/or Carrying – Occasionally, while carrying office supplies and equipment. In general, may occasionally lift and /or carry items from 5-15 lbs.
