About the Job Director of University Resources – The Analytics & Foresight department needs a highly skilled, team‑oriented professional to manage the University’s operating budget. The role reports to the Associate Vice President of University Resources and is an individual contributor responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing the annual operating budget. Success requires close collaboration with stakeholders across the University to communicate, research, and resolve budget‑related issues while understanding the relationship between the budget, actual and projected financial performance, and the University’s strategic objectives. Job Responsibilities Own the annual budget cycle, accurately gathering and recording budget inputs from departments for consolidation and aggregation. Identify and communicate spending versus the budget throughout the year, flagging and communicating variances to all levels of the organization. Develop and administer tools enabling budget managers to own and understand their respective budgets and adequately plan their financial needs and wants. Deliver presentations, reports, and analysis for consumption by the George Fox University Board of Trustees, the President’s Operations Team, the Chief Financial Officer, the Associate Vice President of University Resources, and other parties as needed. Monitor or execute tasks specific to the budget that belong to budget‑dependent business processes, such as personnel changes in collaboration with the Office of People & Culture. Collaborate in the design and continuous improvement of business processes that have dependencies rooted in the budget, including potential automation opportunities. Communicate potential improvements to the University’s Chart of Accounts for organizing and categorizing budgeting and spending, in collaboration with General Ledger accountants. Communicate effectively and courteously with employees, students, and the public in a spirit of teamwork, respect, and customer service. By action, words, and lifestyle, serve as a Christian role model to students. Demonstrate experience working cross‑culturally with respect, appreciation, and humility. Perform other duties as assigned. We're Looking for Candidates Who Have A Bachelor’s Degree, including coursework in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Analytics. Experience building or improving financial reporting within tools. Previous experience utilizing a systems/holistic approach to identify and realize both technical and business opportunities and to objectively evaluate alternative solutions. A tenacious, iterative mentality that drives continuous improvement and limits wasted effort, coupled with a consistent and rigorous approach to daily activities and priorities. Integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. Work experience managing budgets – with higher levels favored. Experience in non‑profit/fund accounting – experience with higher education favored. Experience with Vena and/or PeopleSoft. Demonstrated technical ability utilizing tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, dimensional cube applications (Vena, Hyperion), and data visualizations (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI). Job Information Hours per week: 40 hours per week. Primary work location: Newberg Campus. Working conditions: Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment.
