JOB TITLE: Project Manager

SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the project team and managing commercial and industrial HVAC projects to achieve financial, operational, and customer objectives. 

The role is accountable for project profitability, scheduling, resource management, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, and employee development. The Project Manager directly supervises assigned project field personnel and coordinates subcontractors, vendors, and internal resources to ensure projects are completed according to scope, schedule, budget, and customer commitments. 

Working closely with the General Manager, sales, service, and other departments, the Project Manager ensures effective project handoffs, execution, and closeout while supporting long-term customer relationships and the continued development of TCS/Dynamiq’s capabilities. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Planning & Execution 

• Manage commercial and industrial HVAC projects from inception through completion, including multiple concurrent projects of varying size and complexity. 
• Review project scope, estimates, contracts, and supporting documentation to ensure a complete handoff from sales. 
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, labor plans, and resource requirements. 
• Coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments to ensure effective project execution. 
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions to meet project commitments. 
• Ensure accurate and timely project documentation, reporting, completion, and closeout. 

2. Financial Performance & Project Controls 

• Own the financial performance of assigned projects, achieving budgeted gross profit and other financial objectives. 
• Monitor project costs, labor performance, purchasing, commitments, and projected profitability throughout execution. 
• Identify and manage scope changes, change orders, and financial risks to protect project profitability. 
• Maintain accurate project forecasts, identify financial variances, and implement corrective actions as needed. 
• Review project financial performance regularly and report results, risks, and projected outcomes to the General Manager. 
• Ensure timely and accurate billing, including progress billing, change orders, and final project closeout. 

3. People Leadership & Resource Management 

• Directly supervise, lead, coach, develop, and retain assigned project field personnel. 
• Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, conduct evaluations, and address performance concerns. 
• Recommend hiring, promotions, compensation changes, disciplinary actions, and terminations. 
• Ensure project personnel have the training, technical capabilities, tools, and resources necessary to perform their work effectively. 
• Plan and manage project labor requirements, coordinating resource needs with the General Manager and other operational leaders. 
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and quality workmanship. 

4. Customer Relationships & Organizational Collaboration 

• Maintain effective communication with customers regarding project scope, schedules, progress, and commitments. 
• Address customer concerns promptly and professionally to support customer satisfaction and long-term relationships. 
• Collaborate with sales to ensure accurate project handoffs and resolve scope, pricing, and customer expectation issues. 
• Coordinate with service and controls teams to ensure effective installation, commissioning, turnover, and ongoing customer support. 
• Identify additional customer needs and opportunities and communicate them to the appropriate sales resources. 

5. Quality, Safety & Technical Execution 

• Ensure projects meet contractual requirements, company quality standards, applicable codes, and industry standards. 
• Provide technical oversight and guidance for HVAC installation, equipment, and mechanical systems. 
• Conduct project site inspections and quality reviews to verify workmanship and identify corrective actions. 
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements. 
• Ensure project personnel and subcontractors follow appropriate safety practices and address identified hazards. 
• Ensure proper project documentation, testing, commissioning, and customer turnover. 

6. Operational Improvement & Dynamiq 

• Utilize company project management systems, financial reporting tools, and operating procedures to improve project execution and visibility. 
• Identify opportunities to improve planning, productivity, coordination, and project profitability. 
• Support the adoption of new technologies and operating methods that strengthen project delivery and customer outcomes. 
• Collaborate across TCS/Dynamiq to improve project handoffs, resource utilization, and coordination between mechanical, service, and controls operations. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience 

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may be substituted. 
• Six or more years of experience in commercial and industrial HVAC project management. 
• PMP certification preferred. 
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including projects of varying size and complexity. 

Technical & Business Knowledge 

• Strong understanding of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, installation practices, and applicable codes and standards. 
• Knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, hydronic systems, pumps, and related mechanical equipment. 
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, blueprints, and wiring schematics. 
• Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, labor costs, schedules, and financial performance. 
• Proficiency with project management software, financial reporting systems, and related technologies.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in office environments, customer facilities, mechanical rooms, and construction sites. Duties may include walking job sites, climbing ladders, and working around mechanical and electrical equipment. Occasional evening, weekend, and emergency project support may be required.
