Growing togetherThe Accounting Consultant role within Optum Insight Payment Integrity will primarily be responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of core accounting functions, including general ledger activities, financial analysis, and financial reporting. This role ensures accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and support of financial close, financial reporting, and audit processes in a rapidly growing and increasingly complex business.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office for a minimum of four days per week. The preferred location for this position is the Eden Prairie, MN office.Primary Responsibilities:Serve as a trusted accounting partner to business leaders, finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders across Optum and UHC organizationLead the month-end close process for assigned products, including general ledger review and journal entry preparation in accordance with GAAP and company policiesPerform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve complex accounting and financial reporting issuesDevelop, document, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes, procedures, and internal controlsPerforming work in a self-directed manner solving complex accounting issues and transactionsSupport monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting activities, including preparation or review of financial statements and supporting schedulesIdentify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting processes and reportingManage multiple priorities independently and collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely deliverablesSolve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analysesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or related field3+ years of Accounting experience including month-end close, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliationsExperience working with general ledger / sub-ledger accounting applicationsDemonstrated solid understanding and practical application of U.S. GAAPDemonstrated intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Proven to be organized and able to work on multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentPreferred Qualifications:Experience working in a matrixed organizational structure within a mid- to large-sized organizationDemonstrated solid problem-solving and analytical skillsDemonstrated understanding of general ledger structures and accountsExperience with Peoplesoft Financials, Hyperion SmartView and BlacklineProven ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and writtenProven ability to work in both team and self-directed work environmentsProven ability to solve moderately complex problems and / or conduct moderately complex analysesProven ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple projectsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment.
