Contract Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced contracts professional to join their Purchasing Department and serve as a key member of the contracts function. This role combines contract administration, vendor management, compliance oversight, and team leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional who can manage complex contracts, collaborate across departments, and support the continued growth and effectiveness of the contracts team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate the full lifecycle of contract review, approval, negotiation, execution, and administration
• Facilitate contract workflow across Purchasing, Legal, Accounting, Risk Management, IT, and end-user departments
• Review contracts and agreements for compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Partner directly with vendors and suppliers to negotiate contract terms and resolve contract-related issues
• Identify, escalate, and help mitigate contract compliance risks
• Support and mentor contract staff while assisting with daily operational priorities
• Manage complex, high-value, and strategic contracts while maintaining involvement in day-to-day contract activities
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors
• Maintain accurate contract documentation and utilize contract tracking systems to monitor contract status and key milestones
• Support continuous process improvements within the contracting and procurement functions
• Travel occasionally as business needs require

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field
• 3-5+ years of progressive experience in contract administration, contract management, procurement, or a related contracts-focused role
• Experience negotiating, reviewing, and administering contracts from initiation through execution
• Strong understanding of contract compliance, risk mitigation, and vendor management
• Experience collaborating with multiple departments and business stakeholders
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Valid Florida Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in government, public sector, construction, or highly regulated environments
• Previous supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience
• Master's degree in a related field
• Experience with Lawson ERP
• Experience with contract management and tracking systems
• Advanced Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat proficiency
