Title or Position: Extended School Year Social Worker

Job Description:
The primary role of the school social worker is to support and enhance the individual student's educational program and adjustment. The social worker is committed to making the student's experience in school as positive and significant as possible. The school social worker brings to the educational process an understanding of the psychosocial development of children, the influences of family and community, and cultural diversity as they interact with education.

Essential Job Functions:

• Familiarize yourself with student IEPs
• Consult with teachers, parents and other professionals to implement interventions to address students' academic, behavioral, and/or social concerns in accordance with their IEP.
• Train staff on student specific programs/interventions as they relate to student specific goals and needs.
• Participate in the identification and solution of school problems as they arise.
• Serve as a liaison between schools, families and community agencies in partnership with the classroom Teacher.
• Provide both direct and indirect services to students, staff and parents.
• Provide direct service/consultation for students and staff during crisis situations.
• Be knowledgeable about and follow legal requirements and ethical codes of the profession.
• Be knowledgeable about research areas relevant to human development and social emotional issues.

Requirements:

• Illinois Professional Educator License endorsed for School Social Worker

Compensation: Hourly Rate $49.98 - $77.74
