Patient Services Representative

Overview The Patient Service Representative (PSR) supports the mission of People's Community Clinic (PCC) by coordinating the flow of patients through the front office in a manner that reflects superior customer service and ensures timely patient care. PSRs work collaboratively with all internal and external customers in compliance with each of the PCC core values. Location: North Clinic, 1101 Camino La Costa, Austin, TX 78752 Schedule: Monday through Friday during clinic operating hours. Compensation: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this individual's primary job responsibilities include: Greet patients promptly upon their arrival at the clinic, utilizing excellent customer service Complete the entire check-in process as patients arrive in a timely, efficient manner, and monitor daily appointment schedules Thoroughly review and update patient demographics, consents, insurance, and income Ensure the patient is screened by financial counselors if applicable Anticipate needs associated with all same-day visits (i.e., registration, including insurance verification, is completed) Maintain a well-organized work area Complete the entire checkout process Communicate effectively with back-office support staff and other departments Function well as a team with the flexibility to adapt to daily changes in routine or assignments Monitor wait times in the waiting area and communicate delays to the patient and clinical staff Manage late-arriving patients per policy and no-show appointments as appropriate Collect co-pay and accurately reconcile daily cash Comply with all front office policies and procedures Process medical records release requests Comply with attendance and punctuality requirements Equipment is turned on and is prepared for the workday at the start of the shift Occasional overtime and/or weekend hours may be required Qualifications Education: High school diploma/GED required Some college preferred Experience: Two years of experience working in a physician's office or healthcare facility Experience with medical billing and/or collections preferred Certificate/License: None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred Exceptional customer service skills Ability to interact successfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and abilities Basic computer literacy, including working with databases Working knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Our Benefits Include: 18 PTO days per year & 11 paid holidays Major Medical Health Insurance Coverage.
