Job Description Job Title: Assistant Director of Facilities and Maintenance Job Title Code: 02300 Salary Grade: S654 $77,669 Department: Facilities and Maintenance Services Reports To: Director of Facilities and Maintenance FLSA Status: Exempt Date Revised: July 2026 Position Summary The Assistant Director of Facilities and Maintenance supports the Director in planning, coordinating, and overseeing district facilities and maintenance operations. The role helps set priorities; manage staff, resources, work‑order and preventive‑maintenance programs; support capital and bond‑funded projects; and ensure buildings, grounds, equipment, vehicles, and access‑control systems are properly maintained and secure. The position monitors performance, safety, compliance, and service delivery while collaborating with school leaders, departments, contractors, and regulatory agencies. In the Director’s absence, the Assistant Director may oversee operations, allocate resources, and make essential operational decisions. What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities) Facilities Operations, Maintenance & Asset Management Assist and oversee the District's facilities and maintenance operations, including building systems, grounds, utilities, preventive maintenance, and repair services. Coordinate maintenance staffing, equipment, materials, contracted services, and work priorities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations. Leads and manages the District’s work‑order system, ensuring timely intake, routing, tracking, completion, and reporting of all maintenance requests. Conduct facility assessments and evaluate building, equipment, and infrastructure conditions to identify maintenance, repair, replacement, and modernization needs. Manages maintenance inventory, tools, equipment, keys, access‑control systems, and assigned vehicles to ensure they are tracked, secure, and ready for use. Support long‑range facility planning Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of facilities, maintenance, construction, building systems, and safety requirements through ongoing training. Leadership, Personnel Management & Customer Service Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance management for maintenance supervisors and assigned personnel. Sets clear performance expectations, work standards, and procedures that support accountability, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement. Participate in employee recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, evaluation, recognition, and disciplinary processes. Assess staffing needs, workload distribution, organizational effectiveness, and professional development opportunities to support departmental success and succession planning. Maintain positive working relationships with administrators, departments, contractors, vendors, and community stakeholders. Addresses service concerns and provides timely updates on maintenance priorities, project status, and facility issues. Capital Projects, Compliance & Emergency Management Supports the planning, coordination, implementation, and closeout of capital and facility improvement projects. Aligns projects with District standards and long‑term facility goals while ensuring regulatory and safety compliance. Manages inspections, testing, documentation, and maintenance for regulated and life‑safety systems. Supports emergency response and prepares reports and analyses to inform planning and decision‑making. Supervisory Responsibilities – Supervises maintenance supervisors and staff, providing leadership, development, performance management, and operational oversight; may oversee department operations in the Director’s absence. To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or a related field; equivalent combinations of education, certifications, training, and experience may be considered. Three (3) years of supervisory or management experience overseeing facility operations, maintenance staff, contractors, or skilled trades personnel. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), Microsoft Office applications, and other automated work‑order systems. Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs. Experience supporting or managing capital improvement, renovation, construction, or facility renewal projects. Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean motor vehicle record that meets. Ability to travel between District locations and respond to emergencies outside of normal work hours, including during inclement weather, as required. In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need: (Preferred Qualifications) Experience managing facilities and maintenance operations in a K‑12, higher education, government, or other complex multi‑site organization. 5+ years of experience supervising maintenance teams, contractors, and service providers. Advanced experience with CMMS administration, asset management, preventive maintenance, inventory control, and fleet operations. Experience managing capital improvement, renovation, modernization, or bond‑funded projects. Experience with long‑range facility planning, equipment life‑cycle management, and capital renewal planning. Professional certification in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Length of Work Year: 260 days, In person, 7.5 hours per day, five days per week Additional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, school breaks, and emergency response, may be required based on operational needs.
