Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center – Sioux Falls Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays Pay Range: $32.50 - $48.50 (actual pay rate dependent on experience) Position Highlights Floats to all Behavioral Health inpatient units, The Link, BHS Urgent Care, and Behavioral Health Adolescent Addiction Unit May be eligible for a Sign‑On Bonus up to $15,000 Opportunity to experience a variety of inpatient settings Work with staff from many areas Average 1 RN for 7–8 patient ratio 100% self‑schedule Student Loan Repayment: $167 extra payment monthly up to $10,000 Varied shifts: 72hrs/2 weeks, every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation Brief Overview Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing nursing care objectives, defining nursing interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to help them understand patient conditions, medications, and self‑care skills. Notes changes, re‑evaluates care objectives, and coordinates care with the healthcare team. Responsibilities Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team, and coordinating with other healthcare providers. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical condition and psychological status, involving social factors, and conferring with family. Establishes nursing diagnosis, sets nursing care objectives, defines nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teaches healthcare requirements by instructing patients, families, and friends to understand conditions, medications, and self‑care skills; answers questions and provides information and resources. Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, reviewing patient records, noting changes, re‑evaluating care objectives, and modifying the nursing plan. Maintains a safe, secure, healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, organizational standards, and legal regulations. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and contacting for repairs. Ensures patient care supplies are ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt. Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Individual must be able to work the specified hours and perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing license in the state of practice (upon hire). Preferred Education and Experience 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
