Surgical Services - Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)

Job Summary (Senior SPT SMMC Sterile Process):


- Position: Senior Sterile Processing Technician
- Work Setting: Acute Care Hospital, SMMC Sterile Process Department
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years sterile processing experience
- At least 3 years in a shift lead, preceptor, or team lead role in a hospital setting
- No first-time travelers accepted
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association)
- Shift Details:
- Variable shifts, primarily 1900-0330 and 2130-0600
- Must have variable availability; will cover other shifts as needed
- On-call required (weekdays 2200-0700; weekends/holidays 0700-1900 or 0700-0700)
- Weekend coverage may exceed every other weekend
- Duties:
- Work independently with strong critical thinking and communication skills
- Occasional shift lead duties as needed
- Float between Main OR and Pavilion (Outpatient Surgery Center)
- Operate and maintain equipment: Da Vinci Xi, Getinge Autoclave, Amsco Autoclave, Steris V-Pro, Steris System 1e, Getinge 86 series washer, Triton 72 ultrasonic cleaner
- Other Requirements:
- Must submit all scheduling requests (RTO) at time of application
- No scheduling accommodations for outside employment
- Scrubs provided
