Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist supports and manages payroll processes to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. This position maintains payroll records, monitors timekeeping information, processes payroll-related transactions, and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain confidentiality while managing multiple priorities. Essential Functions Manage day-to-day payroll activities and ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. Maintain payroll records, files, and supporting documentation. Review and monitor employee timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness. Maintain accurate employee payroll and profile information. Process payroll adjustments, manual checks, and other payroll-related transactions as needed. Process payments and deductions related to retirement plans, health savings accounts, garnishments, and other employee programs. Organize and maintain payroll-related invoices and documentation. Respond to employee questions and requests regarding payroll, deductions, and related matters. Assist with the development, maintenance, and communication of payroll policies and procedures. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, efficiency, and internal controls. Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Protect confidential employee and payroll information. Maintain a working knowledge of payroll practices, procedures, and applicable regulations. Collaborate with Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments as necessary to resolve payroll-related issues. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; degree or coursework in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred. At least two years of payroll or related accounting/HR experience. Knowledge of payroll processing practices and procedures. Working knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll regulations preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and payroll or HRIS systems preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
