Payroll Specialist Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite) Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some flexibility) Salary: $33/hr - $38/hr We’re partnering with a well-established and highly respected organization in Phoenix to find a Payroll Specialist to join their team onsite. This role will own the full payroll process as the sole payroll specialist, supporting a large, multi-state workforce. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident managing high-volume payroll independently. Key Responsibilities Process full-cycle payroll for 500+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations Act as the sole payroll point of contact, owning the entire payroll function from start to finish Maintain and audit payroll data including wages, deductions, garnishments, and benefits Manage employee updates such as new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and tax setup Ensure accurate timekeeping and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner Partner closely with HR and Accounting to ensure alignment across systems and reporting Support payroll reporting, audits, and compliance requirements Stay current on payroll laws and multi-state regulations Qualifications 5+ years of recent payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing Experience processing payroll for 500+ employees required Prior experience as a sole payroll professional or working independently is strongly preferred Hands‑on experience with UKG is required Union payroll experience is a plus Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced environment Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset Pay Details: $33.00 to $38.00 per hour Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
