Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)Day shift: 0615-1845, 3 days/week.Position SummaryThe Med/Surg RN is responsible for providing observation and inpatient care to patients assigned to the Med Surg Unit. This role includes assessing and prioritizing patient care, administering nursing procedures, monitoring patients, documenting assessments, educating patients and families, and collaborating with healthcare providers to support continuity of care and prevent readmissions.Required QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of Med Surg or Emergency Room experience.Previous travel nursing experience.Cerner EHR/EMR experience.Graduate of an accredited RN program.Current Colorado or Compact RN license.Current AHA BLS certification.Current ACLS certification.Current PALS certification.Basic computer skills and experience with electronic health records.Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide patient care within the RN scope of practice and according to physician orders.Perform comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, nursing interventions, and evaluations of care provided.Monitor patients for changes in condition and report abnormal findings to the appropriate provider.Administer medications, IV therapy, oxygen therapy, blood products, and other treatments accurately and in a timely manner.Document patient care and interventions accurately using the electronic health record.Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.Collaborate with healthcare providers, staff, and other departments to support interdisciplinary patient care.Mentor and support the continuous learning of other nursing staff.Comply with infection prevention practices and maintain patient confidentiality.Work Environment and Physical RequirementsThis position is performed in a hospital setting with exposure to work stress, frequent interruptions, moderate noise, and regular communication with patients, staff, and vendors. The role requires the ability to perform heavy physical work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, bending, and assisting with patient movement. There may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and physical strain related to patient care.Additional RequirementsCandidates must demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, service excellence, sound judgment, adaptability, and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
