Facilities Worker

The role of the Facilities Worker is to assist the Facilities Manager with daily tasks, regular maintenance, and special projects. Upstate Granite Solutions is a fast-paced, rapidly expanding company utilizing breakthrough technology and innovative strategy to create high-quality stone countertops. The effective maintenance and management of our facility are becoming increasingly important. Our 20,000 sq. ft. building is not new yet houses many smart and technologically advanced machines in our 15,000 sq ft fabrication center. We also have the largest indoor stone gallery and showroom in the Upstate with over 1,000 full slabs, over 2,500 remnants for customers to view and a new outdoor showroom. Our property is approximately 5 acres. RESPONSIBILITIES These responsibilities are subject to change as the business and its needs change. Execute daily tasks each morning as directed by the Facilities Manager Assist with renovations such as drywall, painting, flooring etc. Assist with vehicle maintenance Assist with machine maintenance Assist with lawn maintenance at shop and owner’s residence Assist with keeping showroom and slab yard lean and free of trash and debris REGULAR WORK HOURS Expect between 40-48 hours weekly Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4:30PM with a 1-hour lunch break Some Saturdays may be needed from time to time. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1 year of forklift experience and 2 years of construction/maintenance preferred. Ability to operate power tools and read tape measure. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate clearly to coworkers. MATH MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The position will require the following physical activities on a regular basis: Climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, crawling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and handling. The maximum amount of weight required to be lifted will be less than 200 pounds. There are no special vision requirements. WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment and outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, wind, etc.). The typical noise level for this job is moderate to loud.
