Tax Manager

Tax Manager

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our corporate finance team in the retail/wholesale sector. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, this mid-senior level role offers a hybrid work model with scheduled work-from-home days. You will take true ownership of complex tax compliance areas, including consolidated and unitary returns, and play a critical role in defending tax positions during audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance: Oversee and manage complex federal and state income tax compliance.
  • Filings & Strategy: Manage complex consolidated and unitary return filings.
  • State Nuances: Navigate and manage compliance regarding state-specific nuances, including combined reporting and throwback rules.
  • Audit Defense: Represent and defend the company's tax positions during audits.
  • Ownership: Take full ownership of all assigned complex compliance and corporate tax initiatives.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Income Tax expertise.
  • Federal Taxes expertise.
  • State Taxes expertise.

Experience & Core Competencies:

  • Experience: 7 to 10+ years of professional tax accounting experience.
  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Federal & State Compliance: Proven, strong experience with federal and state income tax compliance.
  • Consolidated Returns: Direct experience managing complex consolidated and unitary return filings.
  • State-Specific Nuances : Demonstrated ability to manage compliance with complex state rules, such as combined reporting or throwback rules.
  • Audit Defense: Proven track record of successfully defending tax positions during audits.
