Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician Opportunity

Physician opportunity in Emergency Medicine with SCP Health - Locums in Chalmette, Louisiana at St. Bernard Parish Hospital. Coverage period is from April 30, 2026, and ongoing. The shift schedule includes days, mid, and nights. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Patient information includes an average daily volume of 79 patients per day with a case mix consistent with emergency department cases such as cardiac, neurological, trauma, and general medical emergencies.

Facility information includes 10 ED beds, no trauma level specified, and the EMR system is Ochsner EPIC. Specialty backup is available on-call for various departments, and support staff includes NPPA coverage from 9a-9p.

Hospital privileges are required with a credentialing timeline of 30-60 days and temporary privileges available with expedited processing for a clean file.

Job requirements include board eligibility or certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine (ABEM preferred; if not ABEM, ACLS, ATLS, PALS required). An active Louisiana state license and active DEA with LA address are required. Certifications include ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS if not ABEM certified. Residency training in the specialty is required, and the candidate must be willing to work night and day shifts with a flu/immunization waiver available.

Duties and responsibilities include providing high-quality emergency medical care to patients of all ages presenting to the ED, rapidly assessing, diagnosing, and stabilizing acute conditions, coordinating with on-call specialists for complex cases, supervising and collaborating with Advanced Practice Providers during their coverage hours, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation in Ochsner EPIC EMR.
