CNC Machinist - 3rd Shift

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate CNC machines and use existing programming to produce tools & parts to dimensional requirements. The ideal candidate will possess several years of CNC operating experience, some exposure to CNC programming, and attributes of a self-starter as this individual will at times work under indirect supervision. Job Accountabilities: Operate 5-axis CNC machines Setup and operate a range of automatic or semiautomatic machines Reports malfunctions in equipment and makes minor adjustments and repairs Run CNC programs to produce tools & parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements Participate in brainstorming / problem solving with Engineering & Production personnel to solve related problems Gathers necessary tooling, fixtures, and materials needed for job per traveler requirements Continuously monitors equipment to ensure safe operation and production of quality parts Adjusts machines according to dimensional non-conformity Understands and read production drawings, product requirements on the traveler, and know where critical characteristics are Reports any machine malfunctions or safety hazards Perform preventative maintenance to equipment Follow Standard Industrial practice for working with composites and other materials Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary Must be able to work required overtime Other responsibilities as assigned Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations Years’ Experience: 2-3 years of relevant work experience Skills: Previous CNC Programming experience preferred Previous CMS knowledge Previously operated 5-axis CNC machines Understanding of material properties & characteristics Working knowledge of various measuring gages: micrometers, pin gages, dial indicator, screw pitch gage, height gages and comparator stand/gage Advanced Computer Knowledge Ability to do trigonometry and geometrical math computations Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people Experience in laminating Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, Kevlar, or other composites material Experience in semi-repetitive specialized machine operations Strong experience in machining tools Ability to use hand tools and machinery Able to follow instructions, sketches, blueprints, engineering drawings and manuals Capable of problem-solving: Exercises judgment, based on previous experience, practices and precedents, to identify and solve problems that arise. Good communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to handle multiple projects and to work alongside peers Ability to manage time to get work completed on schedule Dependable and accountable with strong attendance, time-management skills, and a consistent work ethic Ability to work in a fast-paced environment performing accurate and quality products Possesses high mechanical aptitude Ability to follow instructions explicitly or innovate, depending on situation Possesses strong problem-solving skills 3rd Shift: 11:30PM - 8:00AM, Monday - Friday *must be able to train on 1st shift (7:30AM - 4:00PM, Monday - Friday) for at least 90 days.
