Human Resource Supervisor

Position: HR / Personnel Supervisor Location: Gogebic Medical Care Facility Reports To: Administrator Employment Type: Full-time Pay Range: $41K–$50K depending on experience and certifications Role Overview The HR Personnel Supervisor is a mid‑level HR management role, responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day HR operations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and supporting employee relations. This position serves as a bridge between staff and senior management, implementing HR strategies, managing recruitment, and maintaining a positive, compliant workplace. Key Responsibilities Oversee the entire recruitment lifecycle—from job postings and candidate screening to interviews, hiring, and onboarding. Administer employee compensation and benefits programs, including benefit communications. Develop, review, and implement HR policies, procedures, and job descriptions in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Conduct employee relations counseling and mediate conflicts to maintain a balanced work environment. Manage performance evaluations, provide coaching, and address performance gaps. Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation. Maintain and manage HR information systems and employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Support labor agreements, investigations, and governmental inquiries as needed. Represent HR in cross‑functional meetings and collaborate with department managers on staffing needs. Manage personnel programs and oversee staff performing personnel processing and payroll activities. Coordinate work efforts with the Administrator on personnel administration matters. Maintain effective working relationships with key individuals and organizations outside the facility. Maintain accurate emergency telephone numbers, personnel numbers, and employee lists. Answer and respond to inquiries according to facility release of information policies and procedures. Prepare and submit various reports to appropriate external entities and for internal meetings. Manage all worker’s compensation claims, including employee work restrictions, FMLA cases, unemployment claims, insurances, COBRA, retirement, and other voluntary benefits. Assist with collective bargaining, drafting proposals, and producing final contract documents. Process, create, and maintain contractor files, employee health files, and track employee probations. Coordinate hiring, review applications, offer employment, and conduct background checks. Coordinate orientation and new hire documentation; enter employee information in programs to issue badges and key fobs. Collaborate with payroll coordinator and perform administrative duties as needed. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment and report unsafe conditions. Attend required trainings, seminars, QA meetings, huddles, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Experience: 1–2 years in HR preferred; minimum one‑year experience in human resources; minimum one‑year experience in health care field (preferred). Certifications: PHR, SHRM, or other HR certifications preferred. Skills: strong knowledge of employment law and HR policy development; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships across all levels; strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Must comply with all facility policies, procedures, safety and infection control policies, and confidentiality requirements. Computer proficiency: basic operation of computers. Physical requirements: may need to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally. Work Environment This role requires frequent interaction with employees, managers, and external agencies, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
