Staff AccountantThe Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close analyses, and supporting management in the preparation of quarterly financial statements submitted to Berkshire Hathaway. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks for assigned functions and ensuring that the company is adhering to GAAP and company policy and procedures.ResponsibilitiesSupport accounting responsibilities where needed for Sales and Use Tax, Sales and Marketing, Fixed Assets, Leases, and General Accounting functions within the Accounting DepartmentPrepare account reconciliations and journal entriesBack-up month-end duties assigned to other AccountantsAssist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant account variancesAssist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements submitted to Berkshire HathawayContribute to department and organizational special projects as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting1 - 3 years of relevant job experienceKnowledge of Microsoft Office, proficient in ExcelExperienced in SAP is a plusUnderstanding of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesVerbal, writing, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a team-based, continuous improvement environmentExpected travel up to 5% in the US and Canada, no extended projects.
