Make an impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a contract role near Oakland, CA. This 0.2 FTE position offers 8 hours per week, ideal for a dedicated professional seeking a flexible schedule while delivering essential services to students in need.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairments (TVI)
- Experience delivering instruction and accommodations to students with visual impairments in school settings
- Strong collaboration skills for working with teachers, families, and educational teams
- Ability to develop and adapt educational materials to meet individual student needs
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility concepts preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop individualized educational plans
- Provide direct and consultative TVI services in accordance with IEPs
- Adapt curriculum and instructional methods for visual accessibility
- Collaborate and consult with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents
- Offer guidance on selecting and using assistive technology for students
- Track progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Support the school community in understanding strategies to foster accessibility and inclusion
