Make a significant impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) supporting students in an educational environment near Berkeley, CA. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current California credential or eligibility as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with school-age students with visual impairments, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of accessible instructional materials, braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support students, staff, and families
- Ability to design and adapt curriculum using individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in line with Individualized Education Programs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure accessibility of curriculum and materials
- Develop and implement strategies for maximizing student independence across educational settings
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and progress
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for staff, students, and families on matters related to visual impairment and accessibility
- Create customized instructional materials and recommend adaptive technologies
