Trusts & Estates Paralegal – Estate Tax Planning & Administration About the Opportunity A well-established lawyer with a sophisticated estate tax planning and administration practice in the Buckhead area of Atlanta is seeking an experienced, self‑directed Trusts & Estates Paralegal to provide high‑level support. This position is full‑time with flexible hours and a mostly in‑office schedule in a professional, collaborative environment. You will work directly with the attorney on complex, high‑net‑worth matters and have significant autonomy and direct client interaction. Key Responsibilities Assist with sophisticated estate planning for high-net-worth clients, including drafting and revising wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts (including advanced techniques), powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related documents. Support trust funding and ongoing trust administration. Create entities in multiple states. Handle estate and trust administration matters, including probate proceedings in Georgia courts, asset inventories and valuations, creditor claims, distributions, DISCLAIMERS, and sub-trust funding. Assist with preparation of federal estate tax returns (Form 706) and gift tax returns (Form 709). Coordinate with CPAs, appraisers, financial advisors, and other professionals. Assist with client intake, gather detailed financial information, and communicate directly with clients with professionalism and discretion. Maintain case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with court and tax filing requirements and client needs. Provide general administrative and office support. Qualifications Three or more years of hands‑on experience in trusts & estates, with strong preference for experience in estate tax planning and/or administration (Forms 706 and 709 experience is valued, but not required). Solid understanding of federal estate, gift, and generation‑skipping transfer tax rules and Georgia probate procedures. Excellent legal drafting and organizational skills with attention‑to‑detail. Strong interpersonal and client communication skills; comfortable working directly with sophisticated clients and taking responsibility. Self‑starter who can manage matters independently with appropriate attorney supervision. Paralegal certificate or degree from an accredited program preferred; NALA Certified Paralegal (CP) a plus, but not required with appropriate work experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estate planning software or case management systems is beneficial, as is experience with TimeSolv billing program. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience (target range $65,000 – $80,000+ depending on qualifications and demonstrated expertise in sophisticated estate work).
