Engineer Propulsion Level 2

Location and Travel This position requires on-site work at Northrop Grumman's Rocket Center in West Virginia. No remote opportunities are available. Travel is required for approximately 10% of the time. Clearance and Security Security clearance is required. The position requires a Secret clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance. Job Overview Perform analysis, design, or testing of moderately complex materials, structural components, and control systems for propulsion systems, including electric, solid/liquid fuel rockets, air-breathing thrusters. Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards, and customer requirements to develop propulsion systems for launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems. Coordinate strategy for developing and leveraging multi-disciplinary design, optimization, and analysis processes to support mission requirements. Define and coordinate the conduct of testing required to evaluate design work. Responsibilities Maintain approved Technical Data Package (TDP) Provide Material Review Board (MRB) support for all product and material issues Establish/maintain Engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) Establish product Key Characteristics and monitor them Review/approve product manufacturing work instructions and ensure compliance with TDP requirements Support technical interchanges between customers and vendors Serve as a technical member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Establish requirements for material obsolescence replacement/qualification/test/implementation Provide technical support to sub‑contractors (may require travel to monitor processes and participate in audits) Conduct Failure Analysis Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action activities Review product acceptance test data and analyze for trends Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Transition of product from development phase to production phase Required Qualifications BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering 2 years of related work experience, or a MS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite Preferred Qualifications Skills related to statics, dynamics, fluids, thermodynamics, rocket propulsion, computer skills/programming (MATLAB, FORTRAN, Solid Modeling, Excel) Leadership and teamwork capabilities Excellent interpersonal communication skills Self‑motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment Experience developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups Ability to work in an autonomous work environment on complex projects Experience working on business or engineering full life‑cycle projects from project inception through launch Compensation and Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 – $118,900.00. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
