Warehouse Supervisor

The Warehouse Supervisor is a hands-on position reporting to the Plant Manager who is responsible for leading all warehouse operations safely, accurately and on-time. This position leads by example maintaining a positive, team member empowered environment where beneficial changes to departmental operations, safety and process are understood and embraced. Multi-departmental communication (to HR, other Ops leaders and Sales) is necessary to address pain-points and contribute to solutions.

Position Duties and Responsibilities Included but not Limited to:

• Be a resident expert in all warehouse operations (shipping, receiving, inventory control).
• Create and use Leader Standard Work (LSW) for daily, weekly, monthly tasks.
• Ensure the execution of processes resulting in shipping finished goods safely, accurately and on-time to both internal and external customers.
• Embrace a data driven approach to allocating resources and completing tasks.
• Create and post weekly warehouse schedule.
• Be a daily mentor to warehouse team members by encouraging good behaviors and coaching underperforming behaviors.
• Lead warehouse huddles to communicate and discuss safety, quality, productivity expectations (KPI's), and general current events with warehouse staff.
• Actively participate in weekly "check-ins" with Plant Manager to clearly communicate pain-points/success stories regarding KPI's, staffing, team member performance, interdepartmental/company concerns and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Help create a safe working environment and supporting facility safety initiatives:
• Understand and support facility HACCP plan.
• Assist with the creation and training of Job Instructions (JI) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
• Assist (and sometimes lead) employee and food safety corrective action investigations.
• Leads the communication effort for the warehouse:
• Transportation regarding outbound delivery routes, vendor pickups, drayage, and Fortune product transfers.
• Production regarding raw material inventory and pertinent incoming shipment information.
• Sales regarding product outs, shorts/allocations, and other customer satisfaction considerations.
• Purchasing concerning incoming PO issues, vendor pickups, and Fortune product transfers.
• HR regarding timeclock and general personnel discussions.
• Maintenance/Sanitation ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse spaces and equipment.
• Collaborate with other facility leaders embracing cross training opportunities.
• Lead inventory control activities.
• Participate and sometimes lead hiring/firing decisions.
• Process daily/weekly shift payroll hours and vacation requests.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

1. 2 plus years of foodservice warehousing experience.
2. Previous leadership experience preferred.
3. Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
4. 2 or 4-year Degree preferred, but not required.
5. Basic understanding and ability to use MS Office Suite.
6. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and supervising instructions.
7. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
8. Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours, when needed.

Physical & Mental Demands:

1. Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities.
2. Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
3. Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
4. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
5. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
6. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
7. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
8. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower position to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position – to – position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
9. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palms.
10. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
11. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
12. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
13. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
14. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
15. The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
16. The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
17. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause workers to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
18. The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
