Accounting Specialist, Operations

Job Purpose Identify advisor and policy owner debts, gather evidence and present results to determine debit balances. The specialist will locate and communicate with debtors by telephone or correspondence to negotiate and secure repayment arrangements. In addition to collections, the specialist will facilitate write‑offs, payment settlements, check/wire refunds, and rejected fund handling, requiring system and accounting analysis to resolve situations. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Facilitates collection of balances for advisor, policy owner, and claim debts resulting from overpayments that could not be resolved by individual departments. Works with third‑party collections agencies when required. Conducts research in various systems and accounts and gathers the data points needed to facilitate the write‑off process. Performs investigative work to obtain contact information needed for payment settlements. Handles check/wire refund activities such as reprocessing, reissuing, and over‑payment returns due to customer requests or internal adjustments. Reviews funds returned or rejected to Jackson, makes necessary adjustments, and resends via the appropriate delivery method to the correct destination. Monitors various reports and notifies business units of action that needs to be taken as appropriate. Other Duties Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Detail oriented Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 1–2 years of experience with Jackson Product/Services and/or collections.
