Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum on a Med Surg unit.
- Assess patient needs and perform ongoing data collection across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive domains; include nutrition, pain, patient/family education, family involvement and patient advocacy.
- Formulate a goal-directed plan of care based on patient diagnosis and expected outcomes; involve patient, family and designee in planning; update the plan as needed.
- Document succinct, legible, and accurate information in the electronic medical record; monitor condition changes and treatment responses; communicate updates to the health care team.
- Delegate and coordinate duties of the health care team; participate in orientation and training of new staff and students; uphold unit policies and regulatory requirements.
- Educate patients, families and caregivers on the plan of care; promote learning readiness and patient advocacy; ensure appropriate involvement of the patient and family in decision-making.

Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Med Surg experience preferred
- Ability to work nights; 3x12 schedule
- Vaccination per organizational policy (exemptions may apply)
- Education: Nursing degree from an approved program (ASN/BSN)
